The overflow from the Upper Ogden Reservoir on the way up to Pendle Hill on Stage 21 of the Central Loop
This page is a record of all those people who have informed us that they have completed the Lancashire Way, either an individual Loop or all of them. It was inspired by Ellis Bland, a runner, who completed the Northern Loop in just 21 hours 15 minutes in one continuous run. You can read his story by clicking this link HERE.
So if you would like to record the fact that you challenged yourself and succeeded in walking a Loop of the Lancashire Way then please do contact us at [email protected], with time in hours or days or not and preferably the place you are from. Come on – it’s looking a little bare at the moment!
And if need any encouragement or incentive then you can read some recommendations by clicking this link HERE
I would also like to thank Tim Doggart, who has now completed all five of the Loops and has created YouTube videos for each. If you would like to view these then please use the links which follow. They give a great view of what to expect including the weather! I hope they encourage you to get out and explore the Lancashire Way.

I have also published Tim’s very kind Testimonial below
“I recently completed the Lancashire Way, finishing the Western Loop as the last of the five loops which constitute the Way. I walked it in sections, taking around a year and a half overall, going out on 32 days during that time, with around 162 hours of walking altogether, in a whole variety of weathers, as we might expect in Lancashire! With a bit of imagination and planning, I was able, most of the time, to use public transport links to get me from home (in Blackburn) to the start point of the next section, then back home again afterwards. I did have one overnight stay at an inn (in Slaidburn on the Central Loop) and one wild camp (out on the Bowland Fells on the Northern Loop), but these could have been avoided either by walking a bit further on a particular day, or by arranging for someone to do a car pickup.
Reflecting on the whole journey of nearly 480 miles, I can truly say that it has been an excellent adventure and a delight from start to finish; completion also provided a great sense of achievement. Lancashire offers so much in terms of variety of scenery and places, from the wild and remote to the cosy villages, from the bleakly industrial to the pastorally idyllic and from hill and dale to rivers and coast. The route took me to many places I’m sure I would never otherwise have visited and learned about, with fascinating historical detail provided in the walk descriptions to enjoy alongside the scenery.
Neil, the creator of the route, deserves a huge amount of credit for his hard work and perseverance – in envisioning the Way, bringing the idea into reality (both on the ground via route-marking and in its excellent description on the website) and in maintaining it – all of these no mean feat. The Lancashire Way deserves to be held up alongside other great national walking trails – and to go from strength to strength.
I took lots of photos along the route and, afterwards, made these into separate video montages for each of the Way’s five loops, so you can get a flavour of the route if you wish – available here on my YouTube channel. I strongly encourage you, if you can, to walk some or all of this magnificent route. Even if you don’t want to walk the whole Way, or even a whole loop, the website provides many suggestions for circular day walks taking in sections of the route. Get out there and see for yourself!”
If you are unsure as to how you can plan the logistics of walking the Lancashire Way then please do contact us at [email protected] and there are suggestions of how to do this across the website. It is not always easy but you can take inspiration from Peter Bearon, who has now completed for of the Loops using just public transport from his home and with limited overnight accommodation.
